About Melburners Inc
About
Melburners is a volunteer-run incorporated association supporting burner culture, art, events, and community in Victoria.
Who we are
Community, connection, expression.
Victoria has a strong burner community. Melburners helps people find their way into it through events, grants, volunteering, workshops, theme camp collaboration, and community communication.
Melburners is part of the Burning Man Regional Network and works alongside other Burning Man organisations and regional events. In particular, Melburners partners closely with Common Arts Victoria to support Underland, the Victorian Burn, through annual community grants. The culture is guided by the Burning Man principles, with consent widely adopted by burner communities as an additional principle.
History
Built to support more than one event.
Melburners was formally established as an Incorporated Association in 2015 to run the annual Decompression fundraising event after Burning Seed.
Decompression became one of the larger Burning Man decompression events globally, with proceeds returned to the Victorian burner community through grants, art support, education, workshops, and smaller related events.
The public finance history records more than $67k in grants returned to the community across recent years, alongside the practical costs of running volunteer-led public events.

Association
How the organisation works.
Committee
Melburners is managed by committee volunteers elected by community members at Annual General Meetings. Roles are staggered so experienced volunteers can support new committee members.
Transparency
The constitution sets the association’s goals and governance. Public finance summaries show how event income, costs, and grants flow back into community work.
