Bring your art to Underland or Melburners Decom
Melburners 2026 Community Grants help subsidise the costs of delivering art, theme camps, installations and creative projects to upcoming Burner events — including Underland in September and Melburners Decom in October 2026.
If you’ve got an idea that brings participation, creativity, interactivity or a bit of wonder to the Victorian Burner community, we’d love to hear about it.

What the grants support
What we’d love to support.
These grants are made possible by revenue raised through Melburners events. They exist to help artists, theme camps, collectives and creative contributors bring participatory art and creative experiences to life.
Projects
Interactive art, installations, theme camp experiences, workshops, communal art-making, scenic elements, lighting, electronics and other creative ideas for Underland or Melburners Decom.
People
Victorian artists, individuals, informal groups, theme camps, collectives and incorporated not-for-profit organisations. Victorian residents should make up the majority of the project team.
Costs
Materials, build components, lighting, electronics, workshop supplies, safety materials, fabrication, machining and other project-specific costs.
How it works
How applications are reviewed.
Applications are reviewed by a panel against a mix of creative, practical and community-focused criteria. We’ll look at what the grant will help deliver, how people can participate, whether the project is achievable, how the budget works, and how the project considers safety and Leave No Trace.
Good to know
- A grant supports your project costs, but does not automatically approve your project for delivery at an event.
- You are responsible for event placement, tickets, safety requirements and any structural, fire, electrical, sound or environmental considerations.
- You’ll need to complete a simple acquittal after delivery and provide receipts for key items.
- Negative feedback from events, especially around safety or Leave No Trace, may affect future applications.
Not usually funded
- Transport, fuel, trailer hire or personal travel.
- Storage or long-term rent.
- Food, alcohol or catering.
- Private camp furniture, bedding or comfort items.
- Wages or labour.
- General camp infrastructure such as shade structures, generators, marquees or camp kitchens.
- DJ/music amplification equipment.
- Commercial projects.
- Retrospective costs unless agreed by the panel.

Before opening the form, it helps to have your project description, rough budget, requested amount, timeline, event details, safety considerations, Leave No Trace plan and any supporting images or links ready.
Applications are submitted through Google Forms. Please only include information you are comfortable sharing with the Melburners grants review panel. Personal information will be used for assessing and administering grant applications.
